The Norfolk coast is a diverse environment that needs to remain protected for its fragile nature and biodiversity. Holme-next-the-Sea will be my main influence as a location I like to regularly visit with its sandy beach and wildlife population amongst the dunes. I want to reflect the serene landscape that is not overpowered by tourism, in addition to the tonal and picturesque characteristics, that make this landscape a more frequent destination for UK holiday makers, as a consequence of the pandemic. ‘No place like Holme’ will be designed as a dynamic, timeless and durable high-end womenswear collection to reduce the need to consume, whilst creating awareness and appreciation for the Norfolk coast through use of typography and imagery. Developing a timeless collection, with longevity as an end goal, will reduce impacts on landfill and one’s carbon footprint appealing to a particular consumer. I aim to utilise my illustrative skills in a variety of mediums to produce a collection that will have variations of bold dynamic patterns and colours, but also reduced and toned-down alternatives to meet a wider audience, taking inspiration from the likes of Paul Smith.
